Celtic 1-0 St Mirren at Celtic Park, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scoring in the 15th minute to lift the hosts from third to second in the Scottish Premiership.
Early on, Callum McGregor twice tried his luck from range before Viljami Sinisalo parried Miguel Freckleton's drive. Moments later, Oxlade-Chamberlain steered a left-footer into the bottom right from the centre of the box (15.).
St Mirren then lost goalkeeper Shamal George to injury, with Ryan Mullen coming on (32.). The substitute kept the visitors in it before the break, saving from Tomás Čvančara (35.) and Benjamin Nygren (38.), while Liam Donnelly headed just over on the stroke of half time.
After the restart, the Hoops introduced Kelechi Iheanacho (62.), and the forward soon slid a big chance wide from close range (72.). The hosts managed the closing stages cleanly as St Mirren's aerial route yielded little.
The Hoops recorded 56.4% possession and four shots on target from seven attempts. St Mirren produced one shot on target from five attempts and forced seven corners.
Next, the two sides meet again in the Scottish Cup semi-finals.
