Celtic are facing competition in the race to sign Balazs Toth from Blackburn Rovers before 1 September
Celtic are facing competition from European rivals Hamburg and Udinese in the race to sign Balazs Toth from Blackburn Rovers.
According to Football Insider, the goalkeeper is attracting interest from a number of clubs as we approach the end of the transfer market.
There are two weeks remaining in the summer window, with the 1 September deadline fast approaching.
The 28-year-old is now into the final year of his contract with the Lancashire outfit, which has fuelled speculation over his future.
Toth featured in the team’s 2-2 draw against Wolves last Friday night in what was the opening fixture of the new campaign.
The Hungarian also played 34 times in the Championship last season, keeping nine clean sheets as the team narrowly avoided relegation from the division.

It’s believed that Celtic are hoping to secure a cut-rate price for Toth as they look to bolster their options between the sticks.
However, they face competition from both Udinese and Hamburg, which will complicate their pursuit of the goalkeeper.
The Glasgow outfit are looking to take advantage of the Blackburn star’s contract situation, with an exit looking increasingly likely this summer.
The Premiership champions have prioritised upgrading their shot-stopper options for the campaign ahead, but it remains to be seen whether they can convince the Championship side to cash in.
It was previously reported that Blackburn have set a £3 to 4 million asking price for Toth, who joined the club in the 2024 summer transfer window.
The 28-year-old has had injury issues in his time at Ewood Park, but was also awarded the Players’ Player of the Year award for last season, as voted for by his own teammates.
So he remains an important part of Tony Mowbray’s squad for the time being, as speculation mounts on his future.
Blackburn fans have urged the club to avoid selling him at the very last minute, so that they have time to secure a replacement.
Meanwhile, some supporters believe that Celtic will offer him the best salary, making them favourites to be his next club.
But some fans believe that the Hungarian’s valuation should be higher, even as he enters the final year of his contract.
Blackburn have until 1 September to find a resolution to Toth’s future before the window shuts.

Toth performed well for Blackburn last season, and was deservedly recognised for that by his teammates.
But his contract situation puts the club in a tricky position, and it means a sale before the window closes in a couple of weeks is the most likely outcome right now.
It would be great if Blackburn could tie him down to a new deal, as replacing him this late in the summer won’t be easy, even with Aynsley Pears also still available.
Celtic are quite an appealing option, especially as they have European football on offer, but Toth won’t even be guaranteed to start in Martin O’Neill’s side, so perhaps that could sway his decision on his future.
