Celtic are reportedly eyeing up a move for Scotland defender Scott McKenna. The 29-year-old has impressed after swapping Nottingham Forest for the Croatian side last summer, with the ex-Aberdeen star on track for the title.

It seems unlikely that Celtic would be interested in the player given that he has been linked at various junctures to no avail. However, as per Croatian media outlet Germanijak, McKenna is reportedly being considered by Celtic as he continues to impress in Croatia.

Given that there is a World Cup approaching, Zagreb are likely setting out their stall early if there is to be interest in the formidable central defender. Celtic are not the only club that are linked, with European opponents and English sides also mentioned.

Zagreb’s Chief Scout Tomislav Sokota went on record stating that there had been offers for the defender and that they would be looking for £10m for the services of the experienced centre back.

“It’s not just speculation about Scott McKenna, there are serious offers. We are talking about £10 million here.”

This appears to be a case of Zagreb touting their player after a successful season ahead of anticipated interest in the player. Celtic could have signed the player for nothing in the summer of 2024 and there’s certainly an argument that he would have added quality to the backline but a deal never materialised.

Celtic have Auston Trusty and Liam Scales as the left sided central defenders with Cameron Carter-Vickers to return from injury. There is expected to be movement on the transfer front across the team but the back line could see a number of exits, including notable first team stars.
