Celtic start with Nygren header after restart | OneFootball

Celtic beat Dundee 1-0 at Celtic Park as Benjamin Nygren's close-range header delivered an opening day Scottish Premiership win.

The breakthrough came in the 52nd minute when Benjamin Nygren glanced in Kieran Tierney's cross at the back post.

Viljami Sinisalo preserved the lead, pushing away Joe Bevan's header (54.). Owen Goodman then denied Yang Hyun-jun's low drive (67.) and held Tierney's effort from distance (68.).

An injury forced Yang off, with Sebastian Tounekti introduced (78.). Sinisalo later clawed out Ashley Hay's goalbound header (81.).

Callum McGregor struck the right post from range (85.). James Forrest then teed up Tounekti, who lifted a late chance over (89.).

The Bhoys controlled 65.5% possession and tallied 18 attempts, winning nine corners. Dundee mustered 11 attempts, forcing three saves from Sinisalo.
