New Wolves head coach Cesar Peixoto has contacted Kieran Trippier to reaffirm the defender’s place in his plans after Rob Edwards’ departure.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, Trippier became the club’s first summer signing earlier this month, only days before Edwards was sacked and Peixoto appointed.

Talk of the 35-year-old reconsidering the move was always unlikely, and it is believed Peixoto has outlined his vision to ease any concerns.

Trippier will report to Compton Park when pre-season begins early next month. He posted training pictures from Mallorca on Thursday and is expected to be central to Wolves’ bid for a swift Premier League return following relegation.

Peixoto, 46, is still awaiting a work permit before officially starting work, but he has already spoken with senior players about his plans. He views pre-season as crucial, with Wolves likely to return later than many Championship rivals after finishing their Premier League campaign in late May.

Peixoto met Jackson in Portugal this week with transfer strategy discussed, while outgoings are a major focus and several futures may not be resolved until after the World Cup.

Wolves could also receive a windfall if former winger Chiquinho moves this summer, a year after leaving Molineux on a free. He made only 11 appearances in three-and-a-half years due to a serious knee injury, and his Alverca deal includes a 50 per cent sell-on clause. Alverca are believed to be seeking around £8million.
