César Peixoto could be heading to England for his first job abroad, with the 46-year-old former Benfica player linked to the Wolverhampton post.

According to Fabrizio Romano, there is a preliminary agreement on a two-year deal between the Portuguese coach and the club.

Peixoto is preparing to leave Gil Vicente after an impressive campaign in Barcelos, guiding the club to sixth in the Primeira Liga and 50 points, the third-best top-flight return in their history.

Wolves, who will compete in the Championship next season, have announced Rob Edwards’ departure as head coach as part of a restructuring aimed at a rapid Premier League return.
