César Peixoto is set to become the new Wolverhampton Wanderers manager with Rob Edwards having reportedly been sacked.
Wolves hired Edwards after paying £4 million in compensation midway through their doomed 2025/26 Premier League campaign in a move that was primarily seen as the club finding their manager for the 2026/27 Championship season.
However, the club have now decided to go into a different direction and recruit Gil Vicente boss Peixoto who is a part of Jorge Mendes' Gestifute stable. Wolves of course had strong links with Mendes in the past that led to several Portuguese talents featuring for the club.
The former Porto, Braga, and Benfica player ended his playing career at Gil Vicente before managing the likes of Chaves and Paços de Ferreira before rejoining his former side midway through the 2024/25 campaign. Last season, Peixoto led Gil Vicente to a solid sixth-place finish in the Primeira Liga.
In total, Peixoto has overseen 46 games in charge of the Barcelos-based club with a record of 16 wins, 14 draws, and 16 defeats.
