Cesar Sampaio, an in-house assistant, and under-20 coach Vinicius Marques are expected to lead Santos training on Thursday after Juan Pablo Vojvoda was dismissed following the 2-1 loss to Internacional at Vila Belmiro in the Brasileirão on Wednesday night.

According to Diario Do Peixe, Santos finalised the appointment of Cuca on Thursday morning, with the coach expected to begin work on Friday.

The squad have sessions at 16:00 on Thursday and Friday, to be overseen by Sampaio and the youth coach until Cuca takes over. The expectation is that he will lead his first session on Friday afternoon after meeting the players.

On Saturday there is a 10:00 workout before an afternoon trip to Belo Horizonte. Santos visit Cruzeiro at 16:00 on Sunday at the Mineirão in round eight. For Cuca to be on the touchline, his registration must be completed in the CBF BID by Friday night.

Assistant Cuquinha and fitness coach Omar Feitosa will also join the club, and the staff have contracts until the end of the year. Santos are the first side outside the relegation zone with six points, recording one win, three draws and three defeats, scoring 10 and conceding 13.
