Como manager Cesc Fabregas plans to become Arsenal’s boss in the future, according to Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol.
The 38-year-old did not play alongside current manager Mikel Arteta, leaving for Barcelona the same summer the Spaniard joined the club from Everton.
Fabregas made 303 appearances for the Gunners, bagging 57 goals and 97 assists, and he hopes to return as a manager in the future.
Solhekol said on the latest episode of the Sky Sports Transfer Talk Podcast: “There’s some kind of suggestion that long-term, the plan for him is to manage Arsenal one day.
“I’m not sure moving to Chelsea would be part of his career progression.”
The former midfielder has been impressing in Serie A with Como since taking charge in July 2024.
He led them to 10th place in the Italian top-flight last season and is currently pushing for a top-four finish this term.
Como are fifth in the table at the moment, three points behind fourth-place Juventus with four games to play.
Fabregas has also led his side to the Coppa Italia semi-final this term, and Arsenal are likely to be monitoring his progress.
They are not looking to part with Arteta anytime soon and have signalled their intention to extend his contract, which expires in 2027.
The Gunners could end the season with the Champions League and Premier League titles.
They are top of the league table ahead of their final four games and will hope Manchester City falter as they bid to win their first title since 2004.
