Manchester City Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has today unveiled a mosaic and dedicated a road at the City Football Academy to legendary departing midfield ace Kevin De Bruyne.
De Bruyne will leave City at the end of this season and will play his final Etihad Stadium game this evening with Bournemouth our visitors.
Ahead of the 20:00 (UK) kick-off, the Chairman revealed the mosaic to Kevin, which pays tribute to the brilliant Belgian which has been installed by a training pitch at the City Football Academy.
KDB, a global icon of the game, has played 420 matches for City. The image depicts one of Kevin’s iconic celebrations, from the 6-3 victory over Leicester City in 2021.
The road which links the Academy to the first team centre has been renamed Kevin De Bruyne crescent.
During his 10-year spell, the 33-year-old became the Club’s most successful player, winning a remarkable 19 major honours with City, including six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, five League Cups, one UEFA Champions League, one FIFA Club World Cup, one UEFA Super Cup and three Community Shields.
Created by local Manchester artist and City fan Mark Kennedy, the mosaic is the latest in a series of tributes to City legends, including Yaya Toure, Joe Hart, David Silva, Vincent Kompany, Sergio Aguero, Fernandinho and Ilkay Gundogan.
