This Tuesday, Borussia Dortmund will face Juventus in Turin for the opening matchday of the 2025/26 Champions League season. It marks BVB’s 20th campaign in Europe’s elite competition.

Dortmund made their Champions League debut on September 13, 1995—also against Juventus—and suffered a 3-1 defeat. Since then, the club has played 179 matches: 88 wins, 35 draws, and 56 losses. BVB have reached the final three times: lifting the trophy in 1997 against Juventus thanks to Karl-Heinz Riedle and the iconic lob from Lars Ricken, and finishing runners-up against Bayern in 2013 and Real Madrid in 2024.
