Paris Saint-Germain will face Monaco in the Champions League play-offs after Friday's draw in Nyon. The first leg is at Stade Louis II on 17-18 February, the return at the Parc des Princes on 24-25 February.

"It is positive for French football. I hope we will be ready," said Monaco chief executive Thiago Scuro to Canal+.

"We know PSG well and it is very difficult to play Paris, they are the European champions," he added.

The holders finished 11th in the league phase, with Monaco 21st. Paris missed the top 8 after a 1-1 draw with Newcastle on Wednesday and also came through the play-offs last season before their first European crown.

PSG start as favourites against a Monaco side 10th in Ligue 1 after five winless games, four defeats. Monaco did reach this stage last year before going out to Benfica.

If Paris advance, the round of 16 would bring Barcelona and Lamine Yamal or Chelsea, who beat them in last summer's Club World Cup final.

Elsewhere, Real Madrid of Kylian Mbappé meet José Mourinho's Benfica, who secured their place with a stoppage-time goal by goalkeeper Anatolii Trubin against Madrid on Wednesday, 4-2.

The other ties are Borussia Dortmund v Atalanta, Olympiacos v Leverkusen, Galatasaray v Juventus, Club Bruges v Atletico de Madrid, Qarabag v Newcastle, and Bodo/Glimt v Inter Milan.
