Arsenal will face Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-final.

The Gunners cruised into their second successive quarter-final with a 9-3 aggregate win over PSV Eindhoven at the last-16 stage, a result owing much to their 7-1 first leg win. Meanwhile, the holders beat their city rivals Atletico Madrid on penalties to set up a blockbuster tie next month.

Paris Saint-Germain’s reward for knocking out Premier League leaders Liverpool on penalties is a showdown with another English club as well as reunion with their former manager in Unai Emery as Aston Villa got the better of Club Brugge over two legs.

Barcelona were the first side to book a quarter-final place after overcoming Benfica 4-1 on aggregate with Raphinha and teen sensation Lamine Yamal both on target in the second leg on Tuesday evening. The current La Liga leaders will face Borussia Dortmund after they knocked out French side Lille.

Bayern Munich won the battle of the Bundesliga giants, beating rivals Bayer Leverkusen 5-0 on aggregate as Harry Kane scored three goals across the two games to set up an intriguing meeting with 2023 finalists Inter Milan who made light work of Robin van Persie’s Feyenoord.
