Charlton Athletic suffered a 1-0 loss to Norwich City at the Valley on Saturday afternoon
Charlton Athletic’s three game unbeaten run came to an end on Saturday afternoon with a 1-0 loss to Norwich City.
Pelle Mattasson’s fifth minute strike was enough to seal all three points for the Canaries at the Valley, moving the Norfolk outfit up to 10th in the table.
It was Norwich’s sixth win in seven league games, as they surge towards the play-off places in the final weeks of the campaign.
Meanwhile, the Addicks lost ground on the likes of Blackburn Rovers, West Brom and Leicester City, who all picked up points below them in the table.
The London outfit are aiming to earn their survival in the Championship after gaining promotion from League One last year.
The gap to the relegation zone is now nine points, with just seven games left once league action resumes following the March international break.

Nathan Jones has accused Philippe Clement of showing a lack of respect following the conclusion of the 1-0 clash at the Valley on Saturday.
He criticised the Norwich boss for making the 52-year-old wait to shake his hand, as is custom after games, as he was celebrating with staff and high-fiving people in celebration of the victory.
"Look, I don't want to make a big thing of it, but after the match, managers usually shake their hands," said Jones, via Pink Un.
"He shook 25 people's hands and then decided to come and shake the manager's hand. I think that's a lack of respect.
“I don't high-five the crowd and everyone else, and then go and shake the kit man's hands, water bottle hands, and everything else.
"I go, I show respect to their manager.
“Then if I want to do anything, if I want to high-five anyone, I do that.
"So I think he showed a real lack of respect, and I told him that."
Clement took charge of Norwich in November with the team in danger of suffering relegation to League One due to their poor form under Liam Manning.
However, he has now overseen 16 wins from 27 games, lifting the Canaries into the top half of the Championship table.
While a play-off place is still a remote possibility at this stage, the gap to sixth place Southampton is just nine points with seven games to go to the end of the campaign.
The Norfolk outfit will return to action against the relegation-threatened Portsmouth on 3 April in a 3pm kick-off.
Meanwhile, Charlton have missed out on a chance to move ahead of Sheffield United with this defeat, with the Blades also losing.
The Addicks are still 18th in the table, with the gap to 22nd in the table Leicester City now only nine points after their 0-0 draw with Watford.
Jones’ side have won just two of their last eight league games, but they still have a comfortable gap over the bottom three at this stage of the season.
Next up for Charlton is a home clash against Bristol City on 3 April in a 3pm kick-off.
Jones has claimed that he doesn’t want to make a big deal of the incident with Clement, but he’s brought it up to the Norwich boss, as well as made it public in the media after the fact.
It is a completely unnecessary feud for the 52-year-old to get involved with, and it comes across as sour grapes after a 1-0 loss at home to an in-form side.
Jones needs to focus on ensuring his team gets a few more points between now and the end of the season so that the Addicks survive in the Championship.
Clement will give this incident very little thought, with his team flying at the moment and looking like a dark horse for a possible play-off spot now with this win.
