Cheikh Tidiane Thiam signs Villarreal B deal until 2031, could be key for Albelda | OneFootball

Cheikh Tidiane Thiam has signed a new Villarreal B contract running to 30 June 2031, and may become a key figure for David Albelda this season.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the club view the extension as a long-term commitment to one of their most promising academy midfielders, tipped to take the next step.

Born in Cambérène, Senegal on seven November 2005, Thiam stands out for his physical power, ground coverage and technical quality that lets him contribute sensibly to build-up play. He breaks pressure lines through ball-carrying or passing, and captains Senegal Under-20s, underlining his leadership.

After starting 10 matches, the midfielder has offered clear signs of his potential, while still having areas to polish.

Last season he operated behind Alassane Diatta and Carlos Maciá, and this year he is in line for a larger role.

Villarreal want him to keep developing under Albelda, increase his influence in the B team and mirror Alassane Diatta’s progression, edging towards the first team over time. The new deal underlines that belief.
