Andrea Cambiaso has emerged as Juventus’s most immediately sellable asset this summer, with Barcelona and Chelsea both monitoring the Italy international as new CEO Giovanni Carnevali looks to generate the funds necessary to rebuild the squad without Champions League revenue.

Juventus value Cambiaso at €40 million, a figure that would represent an enormous profit given his current book value of just €6 million.

Barcelona have maintained their interest in the Italian for several months, while Chelsea’s pursuit has been given fresh impetus following their sale of Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid.

Xabi Alonso, now at Stamford Bridge, was already keen on Cambiaso when at Leverkusen last year.

Carnevali’s strong existing relationships with both clubs, built during his Sassuolo years, could facilitate negotiations considerably.

Spence, Emerson Palmieri and Ruggeri among three options to replace Cambiaso at Juventus

Despite Luciano Spalletti’s genuine admiration for Cambiaso, describing him as a player who sees the pitch not just vertically and horizontally but “in a circular way,” the Bianconeri are preparing contingency plans.

Three names are under active consideration, according to Gazzetta.

Sporting director Marco Ottolini is pushing for Tottenham’s Djed Spence, a player he knows well from a loan spell at Genoa between January and June 2024, when Spence was part of the deal that took Dragusin to north London.

The 2000-born right-footer has a contract until 2029 and is valued at around €30 million, though a loan could also be possible.

Spalletti, meanwhile, is advocating for Emerson Palmieri, who he launched at Roma and who is currently at Marseille.

At 32 with a contract expiring in a year, the operation would be considerably cheaper than alternatives.

Carnevali himself is intrigued by the prospect of Atletico Madrid’s Matteo Ruggeri, an Italian option that would also strengthen the dressing room’s domestic core, though Atletico’s valuation above €20 million and significant competition from other clubs present real obstacles.
