Manchester United are hoping to sign the AC Milan defender Strahinja Pavlovic at the end of the season, and the player could cost around €35 million.
They will also face competition from Chelsea and Crystal Palace, as per Calciomercato.It. The 24-year-old defender has done quite well for AC Milan, and he could prove to be an excellent acquisition for Manchester United.
They need a quality long-term alternative to Harry Maguire, and the Serbian would be ideal for them. He has the physicality for English football, and he could help Manchester United tighten up at the back. They will be competing in the UEFA Champions League next year and will face world-class attacking players. They need to improve defensively. Signing a quality central defender and a left back should be a priority for them.
Similarly, Chelsea has been quite vulnerable defensively. They will be hoping to fight for trophies next season, and signing a quality central defender could prove to be crucial for them. They have been quite porous at the back this season. They have let in 49 goals in 36 Premier League matches. They simply cannot hope to compete with Arsenal or Manchester City with a defence like that.
Pavlovic could help them improve defensively. The opportunity to play for clubs like Manchester United or Chelsea will be quite exciting for him.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace are keeping tabs on the player as well. They are yet to bring in a quality replacement for Marc Guehi, and the Serbian would be ideal for them. It remains to be seen whether they can win the UEFA Europa Conference League this season and convince the defender to join them.
