Chelsea are not in the race for Cologne winger Said El Mala despite recent reports according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg.

The Blues had a quiet January, but are once again expected to be busy this summer, with a of business needing to be done both in terms of incomings and outgoings.

Chelsea are believed to still be looking for a centre back, whilst it’s thought they also want to add another midfielder and attacker.

Chelsea not in the race for Said El Mala

Co-owner Behdad Eghbali has said the model will be tweaked this summer, although fans won’t believe it until they see it happen.

Despite signing four attackers last summer, and with Geovany Quenda and Emmanuel Emegha arriving at the end of the season, the Blues are said to want to add one more.

It’s believed Chelsea are looking for a creative attacker who can play from the left and centrally, and have been linked with Morgan Rogers and Anthony Gordon.

Chelsea are also reportedly leading the race for El Mala, and Plettenberg has provided an update on the future of the teenager.

He took to X.com and said:

“FC Köln still want up to €50m for Said El Mala.

“Brighton are waiting in the background. FC Bayern are out at that price. Chelsea are currently not in the race despite reports.

“El Mala would back himself to make the move to the Premier League in the summer. Nothing has been decided yet, though.

“His focus right now is participation at the World Cup. 12G/5A so far in his first Bundesliga season. #effzeh”
