Chelsea are on the verge of finalising a deal for Rayo Vallecano left-back Pep Chavarria for €25 million, according to MARCA.

Negotiations between the Blues and their La Liga counterparts progressed significantly after Chelsea tabled an improved offer.

The 28-year-old Spaniard has been identified by head coach Xabi Alonso to reinforce the defensive unit following Marc Cucurella’s departure to Real Madrid.

Personal terms between Chavarria and Chelsea have been agreed for some time, with the player eager to complete the move to Stamford Bridge and experience Premier League football.

During his time at Vallecas, Chavarria established himself as one of La Liga’s most reliable full-backs, showcasing strong one-on-one fundamentals and the stamina to contribute effectively in both phases of play.

With both clubs nearly aligned on financial terms, the remaining details centre on payment structure and final paperwork.

Once approved, Chavarria will be authorised to travel to London for a medical before signing his contract to provide key depth on Chelsea’s left side ahead of the new campaign.

Chavarria’s impending arrival highlights a more balanced recruitment approach from Chelsea. While the club has heavily targeted younger talent in recent windows, Alonso has requested more experience, with veteran striker Danny Welbeck also recently completing a move to West London.
