Chelsea have a new highest rated player for the season on WhoScored.

Ask most fans who their player of the season is and they’d likely say Moises Caicedo. But he’s only third.

Another goal on Tuesday night and a 7.58 rating to follow his 8.1 against Wolves at the weekend has pushed Joao Pedro to the top of the pile, clear of Wesley Fofana in second. His average rating for the season is now 7.09.

It’s crazy to think not long ago, JP was really struggling and Liam Delap was getting regular starts. But since Liam Rosenior came in, the Brazilian has been getting better and better, and his recent run is the best we’ve seen from him in a Chelsea shirt. In fact, it’s hard to remember when we last had a striker in such good form.

It’s just what we needed. Our goalkeeper, defence and midfield have been pretty solid, especially compared to recent years. What we needed was a regular goalscorer to turn draws into wins, and the Brazilian is now filling that role.

What’s more, his chemistry with Cole Palmer looks to have gone to a new level too. He and the England star are playing nicely together, and we’re really excited about what they can produce for the rest of the season. JP has 10 Premier League goals and 4 assists, with 12 games still to play.
