In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Chelsea have set their sights on Rayo Vallecano left-back Pep Chavarria this summer. It has been mentioned that the Blues are eyeing a move to secure the services of the Spanish defender in this transfer window.
Chavarria managed to shine at times with his performances on the left side of Rayo Vallecano’s defence in the previous campaign. The 28-year-old made 44 appearances for the Spanish outfit last season, finding the back of the net once and grabbing three assists in multiple competitions.
The Spanish talent is currently among the most talented full-backs in La Liga. Thus, Chelsea would do well to bring him on board later this year.
His current contract at the Spanish club will run out in the summer of 2030, which could make it tough for the Blues to sign him this off-season.

Chavarria is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind clearing his lines when the opposition are on the front foot and is a good crosser of the ball from the left flank. Standing at 1.74m, Chavarria can be a bit weak in the air but can make some driving runs with the ball on the left flank.
The Spanish talent can chip in by scoring and creating the odd goal for his team. However, only time will tell whether he can adapt to the physical style and high intensity of the Premier League if the Blues manage to get a deal over the line for him in this transfer window.
We can expect Chavarria to bring more quality and depth to Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso’s defensive department. He is good enough to challenge for a regular starting role at Stamford Bridge next season.
At 28, Chavarria is playing in his prime, which makes him a decent choice for Chelsea to consider this summer. However, Alonso has to give him some time to adjust to life in England before he can get the best out of the talented left-back at the West London club.
