Leeds United face Chelsea in the Premier League at Elland Road on Wednesday evening.
The hosts have little time to dwell on a disappointing last-gasp defeat to Manchester City last time out, as they prepare for a second heavyweight meeting in four days.
Having let leads slip in their consecutive defeats to Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa, Leeds made the trip to the Etihad Stadium for Saturday’s clash against City in need of a pick-me-up.
A dismal first-half display saw Daniel Farke’s men head into the interval seemingly dead and buried at two goals down.
They clawed their way back into the contest thanks to goals from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha, only for Phil Foden to score a stoppage-time winner.
That was Leeds’ fourth straight defeat, and they remain in the relegation zone, albeit behind West Ham United in 17th place on goal difference.
While Farke would have been pleased by his side’s second-half display in Manchester, he needs to mastermind a turnaround sooner rather than later.
Chelsea showed extraordinary mettle to secure a hard-fought point against Arsenal despite playing over 50 minutes a man short after Moises Caicedo’s sending-off.
Now unbeaten in seven games across all competitions, Enzo Maresca’s men trail league leaders Arsenal by six points and are slowly putting the league on alert as potential title contenders.
While Chelsea have the second-best away record in the division, they suffered a 3-0 thrashing on their most recent visit to Leeds in 2022.
However, that remains the Blues’ only defeat in the last 11 editions of this fixture since January 2003.
