The Champions League final has been played and we’re truly into transfer season now. Players who want a move this summer can now start pursuing it in earnest.

That includes Matheus Fernandes, who will likely leave West Ham following their relegation.

Fernandes chased by three top Premier League clubs

Fernandes has a great season despite his club’s ultimate fate, and it’s no surprise there are a number of Premier League teams keen to snap him up. CaughtOffside claim Chelsea have joined Man U and Arsenal in the chase for the Portugal international.

Fernandes cost the Hammers €44m just a year ago from Southampton, and they would want more than that to sell him. But even then, he provides a good value option for a player who already has some Premier League experience but is still young enough to have plenty of upside.

Arsenal and Man U certainly offer tempting projects right now, we just have to hope Xabi Alonso is able to do some convincing.

In other news…

Meanwhile, Chelsea would love to pay for Fernandes by selling someone like Liam Delap, who did not have a promising first season at the club.

Ibrahima Konate is being linked with a number of teams ahead of a potential summer transfer – but he won’t be joining Chelsea it seems.
