Earlier today, reports emerged claiming that FC Barcelona had shown an interest in signing Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella.
A former La Masia product, the 27-year-old left the club permanently in 2020 after a series of loan deals and has made a name for himself in the Premier League – first with Brighton & Hove Albion and now at Chelsea.
With Alejandro Balde’s form declining and Gerard Martin finding a new home at centre-back, Barcelona could need a new left-back in the summer, leading to the alleged interest in Cucurella.
Now, according to Mundo Deportivo, Cucurella would consider leaving Chelsea if an interesting offer arrives, and Barcelona are is one of the teams he would consider, as it would mean returning home.
Cucurella has previously said that he is happy in London and would live there all his life. But Chelsea are not going through their best moment.
There was a turning point following the dismissal of Enzo Maresca, and everything suggests that next season they will not be in the UEFA Champions League.
As such, Cucurella is now open to an exit and would seriously consider returning to Barcelona, his boyhood club.

Only last month, the Spanish international had openly admitted that he would jump at the opportunity to return to the Catalan club, saying:
“Obviously, if those kinds of opportunities come up, they’re hard to turn down, but I’d have to think it over and talk to my family.”
The asking price for Cucurella, according to the report, would be around €50 million, and his salary could fit within Barcelona’s wage structure, despite the fact that last season Chelsea significantly improved his wages.
However, a possible arrival of the Spanish international would depend on a significant sale in Barça’s defence.
The full-back position, on both flanks, is an area the Catalans are considering reinforcing, although there are other priorities first.
In fact, they wish to sign Joao Cancelo permanently, after he has established himself at left-back ahead of Balde.
