Blues not entirely convincing but do enough to secure Champions League qualification
Chelsea held their nerve on the final day to beat Nottingham Forest 1-0 and qualify for the Champions League.
Levi Colwill scored early in the second-half with what proved to be the winner, before Enzo Maresca’s side remained solid at the back to keep the hosts at bay.
It means the Blues finish the second fourth in the table and go into the Conference League final on a high.
Here’s how Enzo Maresca’s side rated at the City Ground...
Poor distribution and lucky Chris Wood steered over when coming for Ola Aina cross. Upgrade needed in the summer.
Reece James 7
One crucial early tackle on Morgan Gibbs-White and defended well all game, without getting much chance to show his attacking strengths.
Tosin Adarabioyo 7
Preferred to Trevoh Chalobah and again used physicality well against Wood.
Levi Colwill 8
Held defence together during nervy start with two big clearances, then in the right place to score a vital opener. The new Jesper Gronkjaer.
Marc Cucurella 6
Superb all season but average here as Aina repeatedly got in down the right. Kept ball alive in lead up to opening goal.
Moises Caicedo 6
A little petulant in the first-half and lucky not to be booked before he was.
Enzo Fernandez 6
Tidy enough in his use of the ball without having quite the influence that has made him one of Chelsea’s stars during the second half of the season.
Noni Madueke 7
Chelsea’s liveliest player early on and continually caused problems.
Cole Palmer 6
Superb cross deserved better than Neto’s poor finish. Contribution in the first half of the season remains the key to Chelsea’s success.
Jadon Sancho 5
Could well be his final league appearance for the club and, if so, was another that showed why.
Pedro Neto 7
Missed a superb chance when lifting over in the first half but showed great awareness to lay on Colwill’s opener.
Pedro Neto should have given Chelsea a first-half lead
