Chelsea ramp up talks to sign Hugo Ekitiké | OneFootball

Chelsea FC have ramped up their pursuit to sign sought-after Eintracht Frankfurt centre-forward Hugo Ekitiké (22), according to L’Equipe. The outlet understands that the Blues are now clear in their attempts to sign the former PSG striker. Despite Chelsea’s expected signing of Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap (22) in a £30m deal, it appears the Blues want another marquee signing to bolster Enzo Maresca’s options up front.

Chelsea could offer Ekitiké the opportunity of Champions League football following the Blues’ fourth-place finish in the Premier League. The France U21 centre-forward is set to leave Dino Toppmöller after only 18 months in Germany. Ekitiké had a breakthrough season with Die Adler with 22 goals and 13 assists in 48 games played. As a Frenchman may be going Stamford Bridge’s way, one of his fellow countrymen, Christopher Nkunku, looks to be on his way out after a season spent on the fringes.
