Chelsea have joined Arsenal in monitoring Manu Kone, as Roma consider cashing in on the midfielder.
Kone could be a casualty of Roma’s need to raise funds to comply with their financial fair play settlement agreement with UEFA, despite the club’s Champions League qualification.
The France international is viewed as one of the club’s most saleable assets and is open the prospect of a Premier League transfer.
According to Il Messaggero, Chelsea have joined Arsenal in expressing interest in Kone, amid doubts over Enzo Fernandez’s future at Stamford Bridge.
Head coach Xabi Alonso knows the player from his time in the Bundesliga, with Kone having represented Borussia Monchengladbach before moving to Rome in 2024.
Kone has reportedly turned down a move to Atletico Madrid, in favour of England. The Spanish side submitted an offer of around €45m (£38.8m).
Though Roma require funds before the end of the month, a deal is likely to wait until after the World Cup. Kone is currently with France in North America, preparing for their last-32 clash against Sweden.
Roma could bring in much-needed revenue by selling Matias Soule, amid strong interest from Saudi Arabia. Several Saudi sides are willing to spend €40m on the Argentine, though face a challenge to convince the player to leave Italy for the Middle East.
