The 18-year-old Spaniard was recalled from his loan to Wearside after less than a month
Regis Le Bris said he is not considering a move to bring Marc Guiu back to Sunderland after his loan from Chelsea was cut short in the summer.
Chelsea’s transfer plans were thrown into disarray after Liam Delap was ruled out for months with a hamstring injury in late August.
The west London club attempted to call off Nicolas Jackson’s loan move to Bayern Munich, but when the Senegalese refused to return, they negotiated Guiu’s early release from his season-long loan to Sunderland.
He made three appearances in his 26-day stint with the Black Cats and scored in his only start. Le Bris shrugged as he reminisced on the saga, dismissing it as part and parcel of the transfer window.
"Yes, sometimes the market and the life of players is a bit weird,” he said. “We appreciate the short time we have with Marc, he is a good player.
“We developed a good connection with Chelsea and when they had many injuries, they called our sporting department at the end of the conversation he went back to Chelsea.
“The market is the market, we were able to say yes because we found another solution."
That solution came in the form of Brian Brobbey, who is yet to score in three Premier League appearances for Sunderland.
Guiu was made to wait for his chance to impress on return to Chelsea, but scored his first goal of the season in a 5-1 Champions League rout of Ajax this week. With Delap fast approaching a return to the pitch, he has been linked with a loan return to Sunderland in January.
Le Bris said the Black Cats are no longer in the market for strikers: “(It is) too early to say. The problem with him is he played for Sunderland and played for Chelsea. So, if he has to go on loan, it’s only for Sunderland.
“So, it might be the only choice, but it’s up to us to decide. And at the minute we have good strikers and we don’t need anything at the minute.
“He’s a really good footballer, really committed, complete forward, who can run in behind, hold the ball, defend really well and counter-press really strong. A good forward.”
Speaking during the international break, Guiu described the end of the transfer window as “chaotic”.
He said: “We initially decided to go to Sunderland with great enthusiasm and excitement to get some minutes in the top flight and get some experience.
“I had to return to Chelsea, now with great enthusiasm and training hard every day. It was all a bit chaotic, but in the end, I'm a person who faces everything with the utmost positivity, and that's how I faced it.”
