Joao Pedro has said Chelsea are relishing the chance to take on Manchester City in an exciting FA Cup final next month.
Chelsea booked a place in the FA Cup final with a 1-0 win over Leeds United at Wembley on Sunday.
Enzo Fernandez scored the only goal, as interim manager Calum McFarlane led the Blues to victory in his first game in charge. The win ended a run of seven defeats in eight games across all competitions and keeps alive hope of silverware this season.
Chelsea will start as underdogs against Pep Guardiola’s side in the final but Pedro has said the West London side will return to Wembley ‘to win’.
“We had a tough week, but now it’s a good win for us to move forward,’ the striker said.
“We still have games in the Premier League and we have our objectives. This win will give us more confidence. I think it [the final] will be an exciting game. Both teams are going to come to win, but hopefully we can win the final.”
Pedro praised the performance of match-winner Fernandez, who headed home the decisive goal on 23 minutes.
The Argentine was dropped from the squad earlier this season for controversial comments about his future in an interview, but Pedro called the midfielder one of the leaders of the dressing room
“Enzo is one of the leaders, so I’m very happy to play with him. We talk a lot and we try to help the team, help each other. I think we have a good connection and I’m very happy for him [to score the winning goal].”
