After beating Port Vale in the FA Cup on Saturday, Chelsea have a free week before their Premier League run in gets cracking. There are seven league games left, almost all of them really challenging. So how are the Blues shaping up?
sThe striker situation is as clear cut as any in the team: there is one good option, and it’s all down to him.
Both Liam Delap and Marc Guiu are so far behind Joao Pedro that it’s not even worth thinking about them. If they’re playing, that means something has happened to the Brazilian, and in that case the season is lost anyway.
JP has had a great debut season, but he’s a streaky scorer who had a quiet patch of late. We need him to find a nice run to close out the campaign if we want to achieve anything. He’s got a healthy 14 Premier League goals, and if he can really get on a run and make it to 20 by find a hot streak in these final 7 games he can probably call himself Chelsea player of the year.
Our attack has plenty of talent, but someone needs to step up and perform consistently in this final run.
Our midfield situation is looking much more comfortable than before, with options finally available to Liam Rosenior.
