Chelsea are being linked with Santos midfielder Gabriel Bontempo, who is set to make his Brazil debut in this international break.

Brazil have some interesting games to come on their globe-spanning international break tour, and most Chelsea focus is on Estevao.

The young winger has struggled for starts for Xabi Alonso so far this season, but looks like he will get the nod from Carlo Ancelotti to start for the Selecao.

Another youngster in the group – in his case, for the first time – is young midfielder Gabriel Bontempo. The Santos midfielder has been linked with Chelsea multiple times, and the last update on his status – which came from Bolavip in Brazil – reiterated that we’ve had scouts watching him.

Chelsea found success in signing Estevao, but most of their South American gambles so far have been flops. The spectre of Deivid Washington looms large every time we prepare to spend big on a young talent. But Bontempo is already far more experienced than some of the players we’ve bought, and looks genuinely like a big talent.
