Chelsea are not actively looking to sell Wesley Fofana despite speculation linking the defender with a move away.
Fofana has endured a tough period at Chelsea since signing for the West Londoners from Leicester City for a fee of £75m in 2022.
Several serious injuries have stunted his development, with Fofana making only 46 Premier League starts across four seasons at Stamford Bridge.
Recent rumours have suggested Fofana is open to a new challenge, and that the player’s representatives have touted the centre-back to potential suitors. However, new head coach Xabi Alonso is set to evaluate Fofana during the club’s pre-season before a decision is made on his future.
BBC Sport are reporting that Chelsea are now actively looking to sell Fofana, despite expected arrivals in central defence this summer.
Centre-back is an area Chelsea are keen to strengthen, with Alonso having preferred to use a three-man backline for the bulk of his coaching career to date. Should any side express interest in Fofana, Chelsea would demand a fee in excess of £30m for the 25-year-old.
