After bursting onto the scene as a 15 year old, Kendry Paez’s progress slowed a little in the last 12 months, and there worries about his attitude as he prepared for the move to European football.
Chelsea loaned him straight to sister club Strasbourg, and it looks like he’s making an impact already. He started and scored (his first goal on this continent) in their win on Sunday.

He’s been getting rave reviews, and Graeme Bailey of Football Insider says that it’s all down to his great attitude.
“I’m told that Paez he’s come on leaps and bounds since the pre-season,” Bailey wrote.
“He’s really knuckled down and adapted to the Rosenior system, because I am told the Rosenior system is not easy to play and so the players can take time to adapt to it but once they get it they get it like Emegha, they get it.
“That’s why the success has come but I think, Paez, I’m told has really impressed from the start of the season and it’s fair to say there was a few little worries about him within BlueCo, as they knew they had a huge talent but they’re a bit worried by the way he hadn’t settled but with the South Americans in the Strasbourg squad, I think he’s really getting on top of his game now.”
Some fans questioned the decision to send Paez to Strasbourg when the squad was in need of an attacking midfielder, but we like it. He will play a lot more there, as we’ve already seen. Facundo Buonanotte on loan fills that space in our squad, and so far he’s had just 45 minutes.
Paez will learn a lot more as an important player for Rosenior.
