Chelsea have lodged an opening offer for Bayer Leverkusen attacker Kerim Alajbegovic, with the guaranteed fee said to exceed €30m. Kicker reports that Leverkusen want a package of about €40m including bonuses.
Talks between the clubs are described as progressing, leaving open the chance of a swift agreement. Chelsea are yet to settle personal terms with the 18-year-old and concrete discussions with his representatives have not begun.
Alajbegovic is training individually in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He is due to report for Leverkusen’s pre-season on Monday, although developments with Chelsea could alter that plan.
The forward has submitted a transfer request and appears ready to leave without a senior appearance. Leverkusen sold the Köln native to RB Salzburg for about €2m in July 2025, then re-signed him by activating an €8m buyback after a standout season in Austria.
Leverkusen are nevertheless prepared to sell immediately. His estimated market value is €22m and his displays for Salzburg and Bosnia and Herzegovina have drawn interest from leading European clubs.
Atalanta have already had an opening bid rejected. Napoli and Juventus remain linked, while Chelsea’s move has pushed the London side ahead of the Italian competition.
A €40m deal would deliver a substantial profit only weeks after his return to Germany.
