Chelsea are pushing forward with a deal to bring Bologna’s Jonathan Rowe to Stamford Bridge, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Blues are reportedly ready to offer £35 million to sign him. They spent £92 million to sign Jamie Gittens and Alejandro Garnacho last summer.

Both wingers have been average for Chelsea, failing to provide the cutting edge the team needs.

Chelsea are ready to listen to offers for Garnacho and may consider selling Gittens.

Their attention has reportedly turned to Rowe, who has bagged eight goals and four assists in 42 appearances this season.

Chelsea are not alone in the race, with Galatasaray ready to double his €1.5 million salary. Bologna don’t want to let him go, but are open to offers.

Chelsea should be aiming higher than Rowe

Rowe is a decent player, but Chelsea should have moved beyond decent by now.

The Blues have already spent heavily on wide attackers who flatter to deceive, and signing another winger with modest output would only continue the same cycle.

Eight goals and four assists in 42 games is not the profile of a player ready to transform a side chasing the biggest honours in Europe.

Chelsea need elite-level attackers who can consistently decide matches, not squad fillers with potential.

If the Blues are serious about building a team capable of dominating the Premier League and Champions League, they should be aiming far higher.

Bradley Barcola brings explosiveness and end product, Kenan Yildiz has star quality and Yan Diomande is one of the most exciting young forwards in Europe.

Those are the calibre of signings Chelsea should be prioritising, not Rowe.
