Chelsea to continue winless run against Bournemouth predicts pundit with worrying accuracy | OneFootball

Paul Merson has a reputation for being good at predictions – we remember just a few weeks ago we were losing to Tottenham at half time and he said he’d be shocked if we didn’t come back to win it. And we did.

He also backed us to get a result against Man City last season when we were at our worst and they were at their best. Right again.

So it’s not great to read him predicting us to struggle tonight in his column for SportsKeeda:

“This is a massive game for Chelsea, because they’re now in the middle of a bad run of form. Six weeks ago, this game against Bournemouth may have looked like an easy one. But at the moment, if I’m a Chelsea fan, I don’t like this game at all!

So I’m actually worried for Chelsea here. None of the main players were actively involved in Chelsea’s win over Morecambe in the FA Cup. I know they are well rested but sometimes when you’re in a bad run of form, all you need is regular football to go out there and make a difference.”

He ends up concluding the game will be a 2-2 draw. That would disappoint fans not only as a failure to win against one of the perceived lesser teams in the division, but also as a continuation of their run without a win in the league.

Merson predicts top 4 race to go to the wire

Merson went on to address that run and how it’s going to affect our previously easy looking cruise to the top 4:

“Chelsea are winless in their last four league games. All of them fixtures were winnable games if you ask me. Chelsea fans will be over the moon if they finish inside the top four and win the Europa Conference League now. But considering how well Nottingham Forest and Newcastle are playing, it feels like Chelsea will have to battle hard to finish in the top four.”

Forest and Newcastle aren’t slowing down, and the likes of Bournemouth are waiting out there ready to snatch points off anyone who loses focus for a minute.
