Chelsea vs Manchester City LIVE
After Arsenal suffered a shock defeat to Bournemouth that blew the title race wide open, Manchester City bid to take advantage when they play Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Pep Guardiola’s side know victory will move them to within six points of Arsenal ahead of their showdown with the Gunners at the Etihad next weekend. That Arsenal defeat yesterday on a nervy afternoon at Emirates Stadium has left the door ajar City, who have two games in hand as they bid to hunt down the leaders.
Chelsea desperately need a victory to get their Champions League push back on track after back-to-back Premier League defeats before the international break. Liverpool’s win over Fulham yesterday moved the Blues four points off the top five and another bad result would increase scrutiny on Liam Rosenior. Follow the game LIVE below with our dedicated match blog, featuring expert insight and analysis from Dom Smith at Stamford Bridge.

A big day for Chelsea's defence, I think. Important that the slightly less experienced members of their backline, such as Jorrel Hato, step up. Otherwise, Chelsea's 12-game run without victory over Manchester City will only extend.

After Arsenal were well beaten by Bournemouth yesterday afternoon, Manchester City have the chance to close in on the Premier League leaders.
They presently trail the Gunners by nine points, but have two games in hand.
Should City win both those games in hand and beat Arsenal when they meet next weekend, and the two sides will go level on points.
They can kick on in that quest with a win over Chelsea today.

Many moons ago.
Chelsea’s last victory over City was a long time ago - nearly five years - but it was at least memorable: the 2020/21 Champions League final in Porto.
That win gave Chelsea their second European title, with Kai Havertz scoring the only goal, but the Blues are winless against Pep Guardiola’s side in 12 meetings since.

Roberto De Zerbi loses his first match in charge of Tottenham and will end the weekend in the relegation zone!

Cole Palmer joined Chelsea from Manchester City in 2023, but how has he fared in previous matches against his former club?
Short answer: not well.
He is yet to come out on top against City in six attempts, which have yielded three draws and three losses.
In terms of his own performances, his only goal against City came in a 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge back in November 2023.

Chelsea will have their work cut out for them this afternoon, though, with Pep Guardiola also naming a very strong XI.
That back four of Nunes, Khusanov, Guehi and O’Reilly will be very challenging for the Blues to break down, while the front four will give Jorrel Hato and Wesley Fofana a very tough afternoon.
Erling Haaland scored a hat-trick last time out, but beforehand he had endured a run of one goal in seven matches.

It is a strong team for Liam Rosenior.
Jorrel Hato starts again in defence - Rosenior has seemed very impressed by the former Ajax man since Trevoh Chalobah’s injury.
Enzo Fernandez remains absent after seeming to put himself in the shop window during the March international break.
And the Chelsea gaffer has gone for what appears to be his first-choice front-four, consisting of Cole Palmer, Estevao, and Pedro Neto in behind Joao Pedro.
