In a recent report, The Athletic mentioned that Chelsea would have to rival Bayern Munich for Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon this summer. It has been claimed that the Blues are eager to get a deal done for the English wide player this off-season.

Gordon’s Impressive Form In The Premier League

Gordon has enjoyed a great campaign at the Tyneside club as he has been responsible for putting in a series of productive displays for them in front of the opponent’s goal. The 25-year-old has netted 17 goals and earned five assists in 46 matches for Newcastle this season across multiple competitions.

The English wide player is currently among the most feared wingers in the Premier League. Therefore, the Blues would do well to bring him on board in the upcoming transfer window.

His current contract at St. James’ Park will run out in the summer of 2030, which could open the door for Chelsea to sign him on the cheap later this year.

Should Chelsea Go For Gordon This Summer?

Gordon can use his quickness to get the better of his marker out in the wide positions. He is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to create some promising chances for his teammates to score and is an excellent dribbler with the ball at his feet.

The English talent can contribute by scoring and creating his fair share of goals up top. He is primarily a left-winger, but can also operate as a right-sided wide player or as a centre-forward if asked to do so by his manager.

Gordon has got a wealth of experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Chelsea. He would add more pace and goals to the West London club’s frontline.

At 25, Gordon has his best years ahead of him, which makes him a worthy target for the Blues to pursue at the end of this campaign. He will also help Chelsea compete for a European spot in the Premier League next season. Thus, it makes sense for the London giants to go for a player of Gordon’s skill set in the summer transfer period.
