We all got very excited by the prospect of seeing some academy talent on Saturday when we faced Liverpool.
Ryan Kavuma-McQueen and Mathis Eboue were drafted into the squad to make up the numbers after Jesse Derry went off injured against Nottingham Forest earlier in the week.
In the end neither got onto the pitch, with the Blues’ formation change meaning there was less need for a left wingers. But it still would have been a great moment for Eboue in particular, who was making his first appearance in the squad.
Nizaar Kinsella now has an article out about the youngster for the BBC. He notes that Eboue “shifted” from idolising Neymar to having Cristiano Ronaldo as his idol, with particular reference to his work ethic.
Given how one exceeded his potential and the other always struggled to reach it, that’s probably a wise decision from a kid who seems smart beyond his years.
Calum McFarlane has a big decision to make in midfield, and we can bet he’s already thinking about who should play alongside Moises Caicedo in there.
Glenn Hoddle told Chelsea they should try to put some pace into their midfield to make sure they have some threat to hit Man City on the counter with.
