A list of Chelsea’s highest current earners at the club has been revealed, and the top three has some very interesting names in.

Chelsea’s owners have worked hard on reducing the wage bill of the first team squad since they arrived at the club and in all honesty, this is something they have done very well to get on top of, all bar a few.

They have yet to cleanse it completely, but the wage bill for a top club in the Premier League, it is looking pretty good now.

There was a big story going around this summer with Raheem Sterling. He had five clubs interested in signing him but in the end he has stayed at Chelsea and is just going to rot in the lonely ‘bomb squad’ now until January at the earliest. There appears to be a few reasons as to why he didn’t leave the club, and one of them is likely down to the high wages that he is reportedly earning at the club.

In fact, he is Chelsea’s highest earner, according to Transfermarkt.

Fofana also there

With Sterling the top earner, Reece James is in second spot which is fully justified despite his recent injury issues as well. But the third highest earner at Chelsea is centre back Wesley Fofana, who has rarely sustained any length of game time since being at Chelsea due to always being injured.

The full list of earners can be seen above.

Some surprising ones

Moises Caicedo will likely be getting a pay rise soon, being quite far down that list. And I’m shocked to see that Robert Sanchez is so low too, being Chelsea’s number one for some time now despite many fans not rating him.

There are some missing though, and I’m not sure why Axel Disasi is not on there as he’s still a Chelsea player even if he has just taken a decision on his future this weekend with time running out.
