Andrey Santos (20) has backed up the promise that he showed during his brief loan spell at RC Strasbourg Alsace last season by producing a consistently excellent campaign, putting Les Alsaciens in contention for UEFA Champions League football.

The Brazilian has been imperious in the midfield, captaining the club on occasions, having quickly earned the trust of Liam Rosenior. However, it is highly likely that Santos returns to parent club Chelsea at the end of the season. Enzo Maresca would like to work with and evaluate the player during the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.

Chelsea’s Paez could also stay at Strasbourg

He will be a big loss for Strasbourg. His departure may be compensated by the arrival of Mathis Amougou (19), L’Équipe understands. The France youth international joined Chelsea from formative club AS Saint-Étienne in January, however, since his arrival at Stamford Bridge, he has made just two appearances, accumulating a meagre 22 minutes of playing time.

Amougou could therefore make the move to Strasbourg in the summer. Kendry Paez (18) bought by Chelsea but currently training with Strasbourg, could also remain with RCSA for next season on loan, according to L’Équipe.
