Bournemouth are up to third in the table after defeating Brighton & Hove Albion at the Vitality Stadium.

Despite losing so many key players in the summer, Andoni Iraola's side are still looking good and they took the lead in style within the first 20 minutes.

Alex Scott picked up the ball on the edge of the area and rifled in a low effort beyond the reach of Bart Verbruggen.

The home side were the better throughout much of the game with the Seagulls having just two shots on in target in total. Although Fabian Hürzeler would certainly now have counted on having to make two substitutions inside the first 25 minutes with both Jack Hinshelwood and Maxim De Cuyper having to be taken off due to injury.

One of Brighton's two on-target efforts did bring the equaliser shortly into the second half though – a half in which they were much improved.

Kaoru Mitoma is hardly known for his heading ability but the Japanese winger was able to get on the end of Yankuba Minteh's cross from the right and head in from close range.

The winning goal came from the penalty spot as Evanilson was fouled by Jan Paul van Hecke. Antoine Semenyo took the resulting penalty and made it 2-1 to see his side move up to third in the Premier League with nine points from four games.
