NEC Nijmegen and Heerenveen drew 2-2 at Goffertstadion, a result that keeps NEC third and lifts the visitors into seventh in the Eredivisie.
In the 19th minute, Tjaronn Chery smashed in from close range to put NEC ahead. Jacob Trenskow levelled from the centre of the box (37.), set up by Vasilios Zagaritis, before Ringo Meerveld swept Heerenveen in front on the stroke of half time after Joris Overeem's break.
After the restart, Dylan Vente hit the post before Chery rifled a left-footer from outside the area to equalise (57.), teed up by Kodai Sano.
Rijk Janse, on for the injured Jasper Cillessen early on, produced important saves across the game. At the other end, Bernt Klaverboer was busy, finishing with eight saves.
Heerenveen lost Maas Willemsen to injury and brought on Nikolai Hopland (77.), and later replaced Meerveld after a knock late on. Janse denied Lasse Nordas in the closing stages to preserve the point.
NEC attempted 22 shots, with 10 on target, and saw 54.4% of the ball. Heerenveen registered 11 attempts, five on target.
Next, NEC visit Excelsior. Heerenveen host Heracles.
