Chris Sutton has raved about Aston Villa ace Morgan Rogers after watching him in action against Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic at Villa Park on Wednesday evening.
Premier League club Villa got the better of Scottish Premiership outfit Celtic 4-2 at home in the League Stage of the UEFA Champions League.
Rogers was the star of the show for the Villans, as the 22-year-old forward scored a hat-trick.
The England international was deployed as the central attacking midfielder in a 4-2-3-1 formation against Celtic.
Rodgers found the back twice in quick succession in the opening five minutes and completed his hat-trick in injury time for Villa, who could lose star striker Ollie Watkins to Arsenal.
Former Celtic and Villa striker Sutton was following the match, and the BBC Sport pundit has raved about Morgan on X.
Rogers is one of the best young players in the Premier League and is an asset for Villa.
The 22-year-old has been on the books of Villa since February 2924 when he moved from Middlesbrough.
The England international forward has been superb for the Villans and is growing and developing a lot under former Arsenal manager Emery.
Rogers has scored six goals and given four assists in 22 Premier League matches for Villa so far this season.
The forward has found the back of the net thrice and has provided one assist in eight UEFA Champions League matches.
Villa are eighth in the Premier League table at the moment with 37 points from 23 matches.
The Villans are four points behind fourth-placed and defending Premier League champions Manchester City.
Villa have also progressed to the Round of 16 in the Champions League this season after their win against Celtic saw them end the League Stage campaign in eighth place.
Emery’s side will return to action on Saturday when they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers away from home in the Premier League.
