Christoph Baumgartner ruled out of the World Cup

Devastating news for our attacker Christoph Baumgartner. The Austrian suffered a muscle injury in his right thigh while warming up ahead of last night’s friendly against Tunisia. An MRI scan today confirmed that he will not be able to play at the World Cup.

Baumgartner was the Red Bulls’ leading goal contributor in the Bundesliga last season with 13 goals and nine assists, and missed just one game through suspension after picking up five yellow cards.
