City beat Portsmouth to rise from 23rd to 12th

Bristol City beat Portsmouth 2-1 at Ashton Gate on Saturday to rise from 23rd to 12th in the Championship.

In the 31st minute, Lorent Tolaj swept in Jed Wallace's cross on the break to put City ahead.

After the restart, Rio Cardines delivered from a corner and Jason Knight glanced a header home (56.). Cardines is second in the Championship assist chart this season with two.

Rob Dickie anchored the defence with 13 clearances as City protected their lead and limited clear chances.
