Meanwhile, Naomi Layzell played 61 minutes for England Under-23s as the young Lionesses beat France 1-0 at the Lamex Stadium.

At Hampden Park, the Netherlands found themselves behind at the break when a Rachel McLauchlan's blocked shot fell to the feet of Emma Lawton who slammed into the roof of the net.

However, the visitors flipped the match on its head 20 minutes after the interval thanks to quickfire goals from Lineth Beerensteyn and Chasity Grant.

The former equalised when she she battled her way into the Scotland box before squeezing the ball into the bottom corner.

Grant then gave her nation the lead after Miedema danced into the area and squared the ball for the Aston Villa to pass into an empty net.

After edging ahead, the Netherlands defended well and maintained a large percentage of the ball to collect their first win in League A Group 1.

Elsewhere, England Under-23s bounced back from their defeat to Germany last time out with a 1-0 win over France.

Isobel Goodwin broke the deadlock for the Young Lionesses with a goal 10 minutes before half-time.

The forward's strike represented the goal's only game as Layzell helped her nation to a clean sheet.
