According to L'Équipe, Claude Le Roy, 78, has been elected a municipal councillor in Avignon on the list led by former journalist Olivier Galzi, listed as divers droite, which won the second round with 40.62%.
The veteran coach previously managed Cameroon, Senegal, Ghana and DR Congo, among others.

The outcome was a surprise, as Galzi's ticket had previously trailed the combined PS and LFI. They finished second on 38.01%.
The RN came third in the three-way contest with 21.37%.
Le Roy also works as a pundit on L'Équipe du soir.
