Cláudio Pereira has been appointed to take charge of Sporting v FC Porto in Tuesday’s Taça de Portugal semi-final first leg at Estádio José Alvalade, the Portuguese Football Federation announced.
From the Aveiro association, the 39-year-old will oversee a clássico for the first time in his career.
His team at Alvalade will include assistant referees Tiago Costa and Sérgio Jesus, with Manuel Oliveira as VAR supported by Nuno Eiras, and Hélder Malheiro as fourth official.
Kick-off is set for 20:45. It will be the clubs’ third meeting of the season after facing each other in the league.
Pereira last refereed Sporting on 5 October, the only time this season, a 1-1 home draw with Sporting de Braga on matchday eight. He has taken charge of FC Porto once this term, a 1-0 win at Santa Clara in January in round 17.
Sporting and FC Porto contest the first leg of the semi-finals, with the second leg scheduled for April. In the other tie, Fafe of Liga three and Torreense of II Liga drew 1-1 in Fafe in their first leg.
