Manchester City travel to the City Ground on Saturday knowing that anything less than victory could ease the pressure they are beginning to apply on Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table.

Pep Guardiola’s side have built momentum at the perfect time and arrive in Nottingham in the sort of form expected of a team with genuine title ambitions.

City have won seven consecutive matches in all competitions and five in a row in the league, a run that has pulled them to within touching distance of the leaders.

Three consecutive 3-0 Premier League victories underline their growing control at both ends of the pitch and suggest they are moving into a ruthless phase of the season.

Guardiola has made it clear that standards remain non-negotiable, with his squad management and public messaging reflecting a manager fully locked into the title race.

A win on Saturday would briefly take Man City to the summit. However, Forest are unlikely to roll over despite their position near the bottom of the table.

Sean Dyche’s side are just above the relegation zone, but their recent form suggests they are far more competitive than their league position implies.

Forest have won six of their last nine matches in all competitions and stunned Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 at the City Ground earlier this month.

That result highlighted the intensity and organisation Dyche has instilled since taking charge.

A narrow defeat away at Fulham last time out was a setback, but not one that erased the progress Forest have made.

Home form remains their biggest weapon, with four wins from their last six matches in Nottingham and only one home defeat since Dyche’s arrival.

Forest supporters will also draw confidence from last season’s meeting here, when they claimed a memorable 1-0 victory over City.

That result ended a long wait for success against the Cityzens and serves as a reminder that this fixture can still be uncomfortable for the visitors.

City dominate the recent head-to-head record, but Forest’s physical approach and direct style pose a different type of challenge.

Dyche will look to disrupt City’s rhythm, limit space between the lines and turn the contest into a battle of second balls and set pieces.

If City handle the challenge, they keep the pressure firmly on Arsenal. If Forest frustrate them, the title race could take another twist.
